COMPANY BACKGROUND
The company was founded in the mid 1980s by Chuck Mitchell and Al Proffitt. Chuck was a retired Marine Officer and Al was retired Navy.
Steve and Pat Nettles acquired the company in 1995 and relocated it from Pinehurst, N.C. to Jacksonville, FL. Steve was a management consultant for 24 years and retired from the Naval Reserve after 34 years of service which included four commanding officer tours. Pat is a musician by education and a businesswoman by experience. Prior to acquiring Mitchell Proffitt Company, Pat owned a retail boutique for 11 years and was an independent manufacturer’s representative to the military exchanges for nine years.
The company stocks over 3000 line items. Inventories are maintained at a level that allows us to ship most orders complete within 5-7 working days. New items and new markets are being created constantly. Our valuable customers are the best source for ideas about products and market development. MILITARY EXCHANGES and DoD
AAFES
Mitchell Proffitt Company has two contracts with AAFES. Our ball caps and flight jackets are sold under control number 1 00000 8486. All other products are sold under STO/VES. If you have any difficulties generating a DO, call us at 1800 878 6404. AAFES accounts are serviced by a network of independent representatives. NAVSUPCOM
Effective early in 2002 NAVSUPCOM placed Mitchell Proffitt Company on auto replenishment. Orders are transmitted via EDI once a month.Independent representatives still service each NAVSUPCOM exchange but these representatives can no longer write orders against OPOsĀ The Mitchell Proffitt representatives makes note of inventory levels and works with the store managers and RAMS coordinators to communicate modification requirements with NAVSUPCOM.
MARINE CORPS EXCHANGES
We have either a Direct Delivery Contract or standing Purchase Orders with most Marine Corps Exchanges. We service these accounts through a network of independent representatives. Please contact us directly if you require service that is not being provided by our representative.
COAST GUARD EXCHANGES
We do business directly with individual exchanges to meet their requirements. If your exchange is not currently doing business with us, please call for a current catalog and price list.
VETERANS CANTEENS
We currently provide products for several canteens around the country We have an EFT agreement in place and look forward to continued growth in this market.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
We sell directly to military commands and to the Defense Logistic Agency. Our DUNS number is 184725281. Our CAGE code is 1TE43 and we have been assigned a confidential Trading Partner Identification Number (TPIN).

Steve sets strategic goals and direction for the company and develops policies and procedures to maintain focus on achieving those goals. Steve also manages all aspects of staffing, technology, and facilities essential to meeting established goals.
Craig Love: Operations manager.
Responsible for planning and executing all aspects of daily operations including but not limited to shipping, receiving, inventory control, traffic routing, embroidery operations, and facilities management.
